Jake IS Back!

It’s insane how fast Jake is progressing. Today he showed me that he is himself again. Just from the texts he sent me and what he had to say, I can tell he’s completely back. He’s always been my bro, but now he’s Jake again!

Today he was able to rattle off the day of the week and the date of the month. He also learned how to play a new game today called Blokus.

He’s very aware of his surroundings and short term memory is firing on all cylinders.

One of the therapists was giving him math problems. The object of the game was to write out the math problems. He chose to do the math in his head and rattle off the answers instead. He became frustrated with the nurse when she said he had to write it down. That’s Jake for ya.

He also almost beat us at the Blokus game. My mom and I played along in the game.

He told me today that he plans to ask the doctors tomorrow; “When can I get out of here?” He wants to leave pretty bad. I sense some frustration in him. He’s ready to go live a normal life for sure.

He said he wants to eat something healthy today. The food here at the hospital is all but healthy. Wouldn’t you think a hospital would have that figured out? There’s not much that fits into our diet here at the hospital. Especially the slow carb diet.

Some friends came to visit today that visited him in Lafayette and Indy as well. They could see the incredible progress he has made. He was able to talk about everything besides the accident. He seems to remember everything up until the accident.

It is incredible how much he has progressed. I believe he is improving exponentially. It’s awesome to watch. But to be honest, I didn’t expect anything less. He always overcomes everything. Like I said before, he is SuperMan.
